Mr. Ulrich co-founded Anchorage Capital Group in New York in 2003. In his current role as Chairman, Mr. Ulrich is responsible for the firm’s portfolio management, risk management, asset allocation, and investment decisions. During his time as CEO of Anchorage, the firm grew to become a leading alternative credit and distressed investment manager with over $30B in assets under management, operating affiliates in London and Luxembourg. Mr. Ulrich currently is the Chairman of the Board and Director of J.Crew Group Inc.
He previously was the Chairman of the Board of MGM Holdings, Inc. (“MGM”) and had been a director of MGM since December 2010, also serving as the head of the Compensation Committee. Mr. Ulrich stepped down as Chairman of MGM in connection with the successful sale of MGM to Amazon, Inc. Mr. Ulrich has extensive years of experience in the financial services industry and received a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he graduated with honors, and a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.
Mr. Ulrich currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Toronto International Film Festival. Film credits include executive producing MGM titles Cyrano (2021), House of Gucci (2021), The Boys in the Boat (2023), and Challengers (2024); as well as SONY PICTURES RELEASING Dumb Money (2023).
