All requests to shoot inside TIFF Lightbox are processed by the TIFF Communications Department and are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Requests must be submitted to proffice@tiff.net. We require a minimum of 72 hours advance notice to assess these requests.
During the Festival, we do not permit filming in official Festival venues – including in TIFF Lightbox – without prior approval and supervision from the TIFF Communications team.
The Communications Department maintains a database of media contacts and distributes press announcements to various distribution lists based on relevancy. We tailor these lists based on a journalist’s area(s) of interest, beat, region, other areas of expertise, and editorial timelines. If you are a member of the media, please email proffice@tiff.net with your details, including who you write for and the area(s) with which you would like to be kept up-to-date. Our press announcements include Festival programming, year-round TIFF Lightbox events and screenings, and corporate announcements.
Please visit Accessibility at TIFF for more information.
During the Festival: If you are accredited Festival media, please contact us with your request and we will do our best to accommodate where possible.
Year-round: Members of the media requiring accessibility support for a TIFF screening at TIFF Lightbox should contact TIFF Communications with your request.
Please reach out to media@tiff.net with any questions about Festival media accreditation.
TIFF media accreditation typically opens in June. For more information contact the TIFF Media Accreditation team at media@tiff.net or check for updates on the Media Accreditation page in the Press section of our website.
Yes, you must reapply each year as accreditation does not carry over or renew automatically. If you’d like to cover another edition of TIFF, you must submit an application for this year’s Festival and provide updated information as well as upload your coverage of the last edition.
TIFF Communications and the TIFF Media Accreditation team issue media accreditation exclusively to individuals authorized by a media outlet to provide media coverage of the Festival. Other media representatives not tasked with covering the event can check with the TIFF Industry team to see if they instead meet the requirements for Industry Accreditation, or look into Memberships and Ticketing for other ways to attend the Festival.
Every member of a media outlet’s team who will be covering the Festival must have an individual accreditation. For outlets requesting to cover red carpets, this includes each individual crew member who will need to be on the carpet - such as any camera operators, sound people, hosts, and producers. Email any questions about this to media@tiff.net.
You should hear back about your Festival accreditation status in late July. As we receive a large number of applications for accreditation each year, the response time can be relatively long especially as we get closer to the Festival.
All members of the media who wish to cover Festival red carpets must apply for Media Accreditation during the accreditation window (opens June 2, 2025) and include on their application form that their coverage plan includes wanting red carpet access. Please visit the Media Accreditation page in the Press section of our website for dates and details.
An application form needs to be submitted for each individual member of a media outlet’s team or crew (who will be working on the red carpet) – including each individual sound, camera, host, producer, etc. For example a host, cameraperson, and producer each need to submit individual accreditation application forms. Every member of your crew who would need to work on the red carpet, must have their own individual Festival pass. To get this, an accreditation application must be submitted for each individual.
Applications can now be submitted for Media Accreditation for the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival.
If you plan on submitting an application, please read the following information carefully as it may affect your Festival experience.
Press Pass
Please note: Access to specific tickets and P&Is are not guaranteed, as they are subject to availability and capacity.
Media Access Pass
Applications will close July 7, 2025 at 8pm ET
There will be no exceptions for late submissions
Please note:
Media accreditation is granted at the sole discretion of TIFF Communications based on numerous factors. TIFF reserves the right to decline, modify, and/or revoke accreditation in its sole discretion, for any reason and at any time. Previous accreditation does not guarantee future accreditation, including for TIFF 2025. Anyone wishing to be accredited for TIFF 2025 must submit an application and must do so regardless of their accreditation history. Please note that media accreditation does not guarantee you access to any particular area, location, venue, event, or individual(s) (including talent). Each individual granted media accreditation shall comply with TIFF’s Code of Conduct (tiff.net/code-of-conduct).
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Media Accreditation team at media@tiff.net.
