Robin Hays is an award-winning commercial director who has worked extensively with such agencies as McCannErickson, Havas Woldwide, Sid-Lee, John Street, The Martin Agency and BBDO. She has directed the live-action feature Anthem (18) and the animated short Post No Bills (18).
Yosep Anggi Noen was born in Indonesia. His short films include A Lady Caddy Who Never Saw a Hole in One (13) and Love Story Not (15). Ballad of Blood and Two White Buckets (18) is his latest short.
Though still a relative newcomer, Sophie Desmarais has already worked with some of the luminaries of Canadian cinema, including Denis Villeneuve (Polytechnique), Denis Coté (Curling), Xavier Dolan (Heartbeats), and Sébastien Pilote (Le Démantèlement). She garnered critical acclaim for her portrayal of Sarah, a young runner determined to succeed on the track team of one of Quebec’s top-tier universities, in the Toronto International Film Festival hit Sarah Prefers to Run. Directed by Chloé Robichaud, the film secured Sophie a Vancouver Film Critics Award for Best Actress in a Canadian Film, a RiverRun Spark Award, and rocketed her to the top of Indiewire’s “10 Actors to Watch” list at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
She made her English-language feature film debut in the 2004 period drama Head in the Clouds, and was cast opposite Charlize Theron and Penélope Cruz.
Sophie can next be seen in Julie Hivon’s Qu’est-ce qu’on fait ici?, Martin Tallbot’s Henri Henri and Rafaël Ouellet’s forthcoming feature, Gurov and Anna.
Aaron Poole is an actor from Craighurst, Ontario. He has appeared at the Festival in the casts of This Beautiful City (08), The Animal Project (13), and Forsaken (14). Oracle (19) is his directorial debut.
Jaione Camborda studied at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) and the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), after which she moved to Galicia and founded the production company Esnatu Zinema. Her body of work as director includes Proba de axilidade (Agility), Nimbos, Lilit, and Rapa das bestas (Wild Mane Crop). In 2019, she produced, scripted, and directed the feature film Arima. After its screening at San Sebastian Film Festival, she won Best Direction in the New Waves section at the Seville European Film Festival and Best Film in the Escáner section at the Márgenes Film Festival. She has also been a scriptwriter on the feature films Os fenómenos and Ons — both directed by Alfonso Zarauza — and has worked as art director on several feature films.
