Meenakshi Shedde is Senior Programme Advisor, South Asia, TIFF, based in Mumbai. She has been widely influential in shaping the global perception of South Asian cinema for 40 years. She is also the India and South Asia Delegate at the Berlin Film Festival, pre-selecting its films for 25 years, and an independent film curator. She was a jury member of the Cannes Film Festival’s Semaine de la Critique (Critics’ Week) in May 2023, a Golden Globe Awards International Voter in 2023, the sole voter from India. She has been on the jury of 20 international film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin and Venice. As a curator, programmer, and consultant, she has worked with the TIFF Cinematheque for 11 years, as well as the Locarno, Busan, and Dubai Film Festivals; the British Film Institute (BFI); and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA, Australia).
She has been a script mentor abd consultant on Script Labs worldwide for 15 years, and on the selection committees of script/film funds, including Sundance Institute Screenwriters’ Labs-India; Venice Film Festival’s Biennale College Cinema; Rotterdam Film Festival’s Hubert Bals Fund; Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors; Asia Pacific Screen Lab, Australia; and National Film Development Corp NFDC India. A senior journalist, she freelances worldwide and has written for/edited 21 books, mainly on cinema. A filmmaker, she has worked on 15 films.
