Meenakshi Shedde is Senior Programme Advisor, South Asia, TIFF, based in Mumbai. She has been widely influential in shaping the global perception of South Asian cinema for 40 years. An independent film curator, she has been Curator/Advisor to TIFF/Cinematheque (8 years, since 2011), and India and South Asia Delegate, Berlin Film Festival, 1998-2025, 27 years. She has been a jury member of 25 international film festivals, such as Cannes, Berlin and Venice, including the Cannes Film Festival’s Semaine de la Critique (Critics’ Week) in 2023, and a Golden Globe Awards International Voter in 2023. She has worked with top film festivals/institutions worldwide, including the Busan, Mumbai and Dubai Film Festivals; the British Film Institute (BFI); and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA, Australia). She has been a Script Mentor and Consultant on Script Labs/Film Funds worldwide for 15 years, including the Sundance Institute Screenwriters’ Labs-India; Sundance Institute Documentary Fund, Venice FF’s Biennale College Cinema; Hubert Bals Fund; Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors; Asia Pacific Screen Lab, Australia; and National Film Development Corp, NFDC India. A senior journalist, she freelances worldwide and has written for/edited 21 books. A filmmaker, she has worked on 15 films.

She is Curator, Indian Indigenous Films: Cinema from the Margins for the Indian Film Festival Melbourne 2026. She has experience in Impact of Films, diversity and inclusion since 20 years.
