Canada's Top Ten is a unique annual event, established in 2001 by TIFF to honor excellence in contemporary Canadian cinema, reinforcing TIFF’s commitment to Canadian filmmakers.
Through its support of Canadian film, Canada's Top Ten is at the core of what TIFF represents. TIFF Bell Lightbox is an international destination for film and permanent home for TIFF, in which we will continue to see through our goal to continue leading the world in building markets and audiences for Canadian work.
In the past years, Canada's Top Ten has become a highly anticipated initiative, bringing Canada’s most acclaimed filmmakers and eager audiences together for an exciting cinematic experience. The creativity, diversity and innovation of these films and filmmakers keep audiences coming back for more. Last year’s Canada’s Top Ten feature selection included Xavier Dolan’s Les Amours Imaginaires, Denis Côté's Curling, Bruce McDonald's Trigger, and Denis Villeneuve’s Oscar nominated Incendies, while the Top Ten shorts included Halima Ouardiri's Mokhtar, Vincent Biron's Les Fleurs de l'âge, and Guy Maddin's The Little White Cloud that Cried.
From January 5-15, 2012, the programme will include screenings of each selected film and a panel discussion with special guest speakers.
