TIFF Cinematheque is a world-renowned screening programme devoted to the presentation, understanding and appreciation of Canadian and international cinema through carefully curated programming. It features acclaimed director's retrospectives, national and regional spotlights, experimental and avant-garde cinema, exclusive engagements of classic films, including many new and rare archival prints. We're committed to championing the history and culture of cinema by unearthing buried areas of film history and by giving visibility to new directions in cinema.

As part of our Summer in Italy we present the first Toronto retrospective in twenty years dedicated to the great Italian maestro, featuring rare and restored prints of such classics as Bicycle Thieves, Marriage Italian Style, Umberto D. and Two Women.

Canadian Open Vault: The All-Time Top Ten

This season’s special edition of Canadian Open Vault presents free screenings of the top ten Canadian films of all time as selected by TIFF’s fourth national poll, including introductions from special guests such as Guy Maddin, Bruce LaBruce and more.
Notorious: Celebrating the Ingrid Bergman Centenary

In honour of the hundredth anniversary of Ingrid Bergman’s birth, we spotlight some of the legendary actress’ greatest performances in Hollywood films, including Casablanca, The Bells of St. Mary’s and three Hitchcock classics.
