TIFF’S Rising Stars Programme Now Accepting Applications
TORONTO – TIFF Rising Stars, a new initiative designed to offer an international launch to the next generation of Canadian talent, is now accepting applications online at TIFF.net/industry. The inaugural programme will take place at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival® (September 8 to18, 2011), and will showcase four actors who have proven themselves ready to expand their film careers beyond Canada.
Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident under the age of 40 with at least three screen credits (speaking roles in short films, feature films or scripted television shows). The submission deadline is Friday, June 17, and application details are available at TIFF.net/industry.
The four TIFF Rising Stars will enter an intensive professional development experience and be given the opportunity to network with casting directors, agents, managers, producers and filmmakers who can advise them in the realities of the industry. The TIFF Rising Stars initiative will also include a mentoring component, which connects the TIFF Rising Stars recipients with Canadian actors who have already established successful careers in the United States and abroad.
TIFF Rising Stars is produced in conjunction with Pamela Silverstein, an expert in talent and project development with 13 years of experience in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
