A teenage girl's struggle with her out-of-control hormones turns her into a social pariah in this lively and raunchy coming-of-age tale.
A lively and raunchy coming-of-age story, Turn Me On, Goddammit delivers more than its title even suggests. Fifteen-year-old Alma’s (Helene Bergsholm) out-of-control hormones are dictating her every move. All she can think about is sex, phone sex, sex with her neighbour and friend Artur (Matias Myren) and sex with her best friends from school — though she’s yet to make her way to actual intercourse. After Artur makes a sudden advance to her at a party and rumours start flying, Alma finds herself ostracized by her friends, branded as "abnormal" by her nagging mother and made an outcast in her small Norwegian town. Tempering her risqué material with sly humour and applying an intriguingly gauzy, almost floating visual style to echo the perpetual uncertainty of adolescence, director Jannicke Systad Jacobsen captures the uniqueness and extremity of that notoriously difficult state with both flair and affecting sympathy.
