Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy) work the desk at a soon to be shuttered inn in a small Connecticut town. Before the hotel closes for good, Claire determines to find definitive proof of the spectre that has long been rumoured to haunt the halls of the moribund building. With the arrival of the final guests, including a medium (Kelly McGillis) and an old man reliving his honeymoon, Claire sets out to find physical evidence of the ghost's existence-only to discover that some bumps in the basement are best left unexplained. Ti West (The House of the Devil) returns with another twist on a classic horror genre, bringing both nerve-jangling scares and unexpected, mumblecore-type humour to the traditional haunted house movie.
