A German development official who has spent years in Africa finds himself slowly disappearing into the wilderness he was sent to tame in upcoming German auteur Ulrich Köhler's compelling, mysterious variation on Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness.
Having worked in Cameroon for several years, Ebbo (Pierre Bokma), a German medical bureaucrat, has become estranged from his European homeland. When a young, Congolese-born French doctor, Alex (Jean-Christophe Folly), returns to the equally unfamiliar continent of his birth to evaluate the progress of Ebbo's development project, he encounters a man who has lost all roots and all connections, and is slowly disappearing into the wilderness he was sent to tame. Exploring questions of identity, alienation and dislocation, the third feature from acclaimed auteur Ulrich Köhler is a compelling, mysterious variation on Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness.
