Notes
Woody Allen's most beloved and commercially successful film in years stars Owen Wilson as an Allenesque writer whose nighttime sojourns in the French capital magically transport him back to the 1920s. Delightedly drifting through the haunts of the Lost Generation, he meets such twentieth century icons as Ernest Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Josephine Baker, Salvador Dalí, Luis Buñuel (to whom he gives the idea for The Exterminating Angel), Paul Gauguin and Edgar Degas, and falls hard for Adriana (Marion Cotillard), the beautiful mistress of a certain Pablo Picasso - which causes more than a bit of friction with his fiancée (Rachel McAdams) back in 2010. With a top-notch cast including Adrien Brody, Kathy Bates, Michael Sheen, Alison Pill and Tom Hiddleston, Midnight in Paris is a charmingly whimsical love letter to the City of Lights.
