new hybrid film/performance piece
based on footage he gathered in
Nova Scotia over the past decade.
Artist and filmmaker Jem Cohen’s newest film project is a documentary-based,
interdisciplinary hybrid built from footage he gathered in Nova Scotia over the past
decade. The project features multiple 16mm film and HD projections coupled with
texts ranging from poems and folklore to scientific research and local news items,
and featuring live musical accompaniment provided by a supergroup of Cohen’s
previous collaborators, including Guy Picciotto (Fugazi), Jim White (Dirty Three),
T. Griffin (The Quavers), Efrim Menuck (Founder, Godspeed You! Black Emperor,
Thee Silver Mt. Zion), and Jessica Moss (Thee Silver Mt. Zion).
