Mia Hansen-Løve was born in Paris, where she studied at the municipal Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. She began her career as an actor. Her films as director include Tout est pardonné (2007), Le père de mes enfants (2009), which was awarded a Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and Goodbye First Love (Un amour de jeunesse) (2011).
