A compassionate documentary portrait of three teenage girls living on Montreal's Kahnawake reservation.

Teenagers Amy, Lauren and Felicia live on the Kahnawake reserve outside Montreal, where the shadow of the giant Mercier Bridge is a daily reminder of the world beyond the bounds of their tiny community. Director Tracey Deer — who herself left Kahnawake years earlier to attend private school in Montreal and then college in the United States — brings understanding and compassion to her documentary portrait of these three intelligent and outspoken girls, each of whom has to struggle with their ties to their family and community while realizing that true opportunity may only come by leaving them behind.
