Jump Cuts Young Filmmakers showcase enters its 11th year, showcasing the best high-school student films in Ontario. And new this year: Jump Cuts Talent Lab — a session of keynote speeches, conversations, seminars and master classes on both the creative and industry sides of filmmaking!

Jump Cuts Young Filmmakers Showcase @ Next Wave

Fresh on the heels of celebrating a decade of student film programming, Jump Cuts enters its eleventh year with a bang. The competition is a high-profile showcase for the best high-school student work in Ontario. The popularity of the competition increases every year, so expect a packed house and some high-calibre filmmaking. The Jump Cuts Young Filmmakers showcase will be followed by a presentation ceremony for the Gertrude Löwengren Awards for Best Film in Documentary, Fiction, Animation and Experimental categories.

New this year: Jump Cuts Talent Lab

Echoing the TIFF Talent Lab model, this session offers keynote speeches, conversations, seminars and master classes on both the creative and industry sides of filmmaking. The Talent Lab takes place on the morning and early afternoon of May 12, preceding the public screening of the Jump Cuts Showcase. Participants will also receive access to the afternoon's TIFF Next Wave Festival programming. For detailed information on the day’s lineup, mentors and sessions, please email jumpcuts@tiff.net. Due to limited availability, priority access will be given to Jump Cuts finalists and Jump Cuts 2012 entrants. Tickets are now available at a price of $40 plus any applicable fees.
