Independent Film Producer and Agent (MODERATOR)
Cassian is considered an expert in the field of arranging financing and distribution for independent films having done so for 283 films during his tenure at William Morris Independent. His career began with 1983's Oxford Blues and he quickly went on to make another 29 films. In 1995, Cassian joined William Morris and headed William Morris Independent for 15 years. Since leaving William Morris three years ago, Cassian has been involved in arranging financing and distribution for 24 films including Lawless and The Paperboy. Cassian's current slate includes period drama The Butler, and he is also producing Dallas Buyers Club, Ain't Them Bodies Saints and Hateship, Loveship.
- Kerry Barden
Casting Director, Barden/Schnee Casting
A native of Atlanta, Kerry majored in theatre at the University Of Georgia and has cast over 200 films, including, most notably Boys Don’t Cry, American Psycho, The House of Mirth, Bad Boys 2, Pineapple Express and four films for director John Waters. As a producer, his credits include the award-winning Conversations with Other Women starring Aaron Eckhart and Helena Bonham Carter, and the musical Temptation starring Zoe Saldana and Michael Cerveris. Kerry divides his time between Barden / Schnee’s Los Angeles and New York offices.
- Michael Benaroya
CEO, Benaroya Pictures
Since founding the company in 2006, Benaroya Pictures has developed, financed and produced several major motion pictures across a variety of genres and budget sizes including The Words and Kill Your Darlings. In January 2012, Michael announced his founding of Also Known As Pictures (AKA) which seeks to finance films of any size, while maintaining Benaroya Pictures' reputation for being involved in high quality, well cast, larger films, with both critical and commercial viability. Michael as well recently launched the new international sales company International Film Trust (IFT), co-founded with Miscellaneous Entertainment principals D. Todd Shepherd and George Waud. The company will represent theatrical feature film productions from their own banners on a non-exclusive basis as well as titles from other producers and third party productions. With numerous projects in development, and others already prepping, Benaroya Pictures intends to produce and finance at least 4 major motion pictures per annum.
- Yewande Sadiku
CEO of Stanbic IBTC Capital Limited, Executive Producer Half of a Yellow Sun
As CEO of Stanbic IBTC Capital Limited, the Stanbic IBTC Group’s investment banking business, Yewande manages key relationships with regulators and several of Nigeria’s leading corporate and multinational clients. She has been part of Stanbic IBTC’s management team for over a decade and has been involved in several landmark transactions in the Nigerian capital market. Yewande was featured as one of "35 International Women under 35" by World Business magazine in 2007. She has a keen personal interest in bringing organized financing to Nigerian film productions. In 2010, she was awarded an Eisenhower Fellowship and spent 7 weeks studying the role of the financial sector in supporting the development and growth of the film industry in the U.S. She helped to raise financing (as Executive Producer) for the film adaptation of the book, Half of a Yellow Sun, written by the prize-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
