I'm making my annual visit to the
Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan, headed by Michael Moore. The slogan here is "just great movies." See the articles I wrote about the fest for Indiewire in
2007 and
2006. The line-up includes several films that started their festival life at TIFF including
Encounters at the End of the World (pictured above);
Trumbo;
Dinner with the President; and
Body of War. Moore is a very visible host; each morning he moderates a free panel discussion and frequently introduces other films. Tonight his star power will be eclipsed by another Michigan native, Madonna who will be in person to present her documentary about children in Malawi
I Am Because We Are.
